Acorns Class

A Message from the Class Teachers, Miss Holt and Mrs Dengate

Welcome back to school everyone, we hope you all had a lovely break and well-deserved rest!

It’s the time of year again when the days are starting to be lighter for longer and you can definitely see signs of Spring. The sunshine (when it stops raining!) is warmer and we can start to look forward to being outside more after the Winter.

We can also look forward to learning about and celebrating Jesus’ Resurrection at Easter (and eat some Easter eggs too!!).

Please be advised that Parents Evenings are due to be held on the 13th and 14th of March, more information will be sent out to you nearer the time but for now please put these dates in your diaries.

As swimming comes to a close we just wanted to mention how well the children have done this year in the pool.  They should all be very pleased with their achievements – well done Acorns!

Our ‘Animal’ topic continues this term where we will be learning about Chinese New Year and animals, prehistoric creatures and we will also be exploring animals through Art and D&T. In Science this term we will be learning about animals and their habitats.

We hope that you will find the following information useful as a reminder of some very important information:

As last term PE will take place every Wednesday afternoon, however please make sure PE kits are in school all week for any additional physical activities that may take place. Every item of PE kit (as well as uniform) must be clearly labelled with your child’s name.

The home learning menu for this term will be based upon our topic of ‘Animals’ again and you should have now received it. The children’s showcasing of their previous home learning last term was once again fantastic and we were blown away with all of their hard work and creativity. Well done to everyone!

We will continue to send home spellings and times tables each week on a Tuesday for your child to practise along with their daily reading. The books then need to come back the following Tuesday so we can do spelling checks and update the homework.

Mrs Penguin has continued to enjoy her weekend stays with different children so far and she’s looking forward to lots more adventures with you all.

Travelling Bear has also been enjoying his holiday adventures.  Remember if you want him to go on holiday with you all you have to do is write a letter inviting him along, if his diary is free he could be going with you on your next holiday!  You can keep up to date with his adventures by looking at his diary.

Good behaviour and kindness are positively encouraged in Acorn class.  There are opportunities to be rewarded for good conduct and effort with house points, raffle tickets, joy marbles, wrist bands and stickers!

As always if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact a member of the Acorn staff team.

Thank you for helping us by supporting your child’s learning both at school and at home, which is invaluable to their continued progress.

Acorn Class Trip to Whitstable (10 images)

We all enjoyed our trip to Whitstable especially visiting the RNLI lifeboat station.

RNLI Beach Safety (4 images)

The RNLI came to talk to Acorn Class about keeping safe at the seaside. We were a little disappointed there wasn't a swimming pool to go with the dolphin!
