New core Christian values
Our school is distinctively Christian and our aim is that all children are enabled to flourish in school and to achieve their potential socially, emotionally, spiritually and academically. One of the ways in which we promote this is though the teaching of Christian values which underpin the moral and spiritual guidance we give children to help them judge right from wrong and develop their own spirituality.
As a Church of England School, we are always looking for ways to develop our religious character. Up until now we have had 12 Christian Values which have been promoted on a termly basis over 2 years. We have taken some time to consider the impact of this approach and spoken to children to ascertain their views. As a result, we have decided to implement a set of 5 core values which are as follows:
Love, Kindness, Wisdom, Cooperation and Forgiveness
We have recently introduced these new values to children through the story telling of relevant parables and discussions around how this can be related to their own lives. This is also being extended into the classroom, collective worship, the curriculum and in to daily life in school. We hope that these changes will enable children to gain a deeper understanding of our core values.
