Gruffalo muddy mile
Thank you to Catkins parents for organising and running a sponsored Gruffalo Muddy Mile to raise money to buy resources for Catkins class.
When the Catkins woke up on the morning of the trail, the world was white - the muddy mile had turned into a snowy mile! Catkins and parents all wrapped up warm and, led by Mrs Foord and Mrs DaCosta, set out into the woods to see what they could see. The children found all of the characters from the Gruffalo story hiding amongst the trees and each one was holding a letter. Catkins carried clipboards to copy the letters as they walked around. As well as their own welly prints, the children also saw lots of other tracks in the snow. Horses, dogs, rabbits, birds and wolves were some Catkin ideas as to who might have made them. It was a truly magical morning with smiles on everyone's faces. Afterwards they were all quite glad to change out of their wellies and waterproofs and get back into the warm. The money raised will be used to replace some of the equipment that was damaged in the old shed.
In addition, thank you to Catkins parents for hosting a sausage sizzle at Bunnings and a sponsored swim to raise money for the school which has been to buy new storage equipment, tablecloths and mats. Any left over money from these events will be put towards supplementing the Early Years and Key Stage 1 reading schemes which will make a huge difference to the children. We are very grateful for your support.
