Highsted school Outreach workshops
Oak Class was fortunate enough to be involved in outreach workshops in Music and Science run by teachers from Highsted Grammar School. During the Music workshop, the children worked together to compose story pieces using junk percussion - hitting out a beat on rubbish bins, saucepans and even using brooms to create music.
The Science workshop gave the children the opportunity to investigate animals and to consider if they were predators or prey (or both) and looked at how these animals have adapted to best survive. Some of the children were given the opportunity to handle some of the creatures (from meal worms and stick insects to a python!)
All of the children were highly engaged in both of these workshops and participated enthusiastically in their learning.
