My name is Mrs Deeson and I am your Family Liaison Officer (FLO)..
I am part of the Academy Wellbeing Team and liaise closely with all the FLOs across the other schools and Mrs Goldsworthy (Senco), combining our expertise and resources to enable the children’s’ wellbeing, happiness and progress.
Within school, I work closely with Mrs Baker and all the school staff. I work impartially and confidentially to provide a link between you and the school, always in the best interests of you and your family. So what can I help you with? School issue or personal concern, big or small, I’m here to help. I can offer practical help or advice, signpost to external agencies if appropriate, or just be here to listen if you want someone to talk to. I also run regular coffee mornings and informal get-togethers so you can meet other parents/carers, and run parent workshops on all manner of subjects.
I also support your children during the school day, to ensure that they are happy and feel safe and secure in school. For those who need a bit of extra help, I run individual or group sessions to enable them find solutions to any problems. This may include self-esteem, behaviour, friendships, playground worries, anger management, and any number of other issues.
I also run a lunchtime club for any child who needs to take timeout from the school day and come and play or draw, or just have a chat. All of this promotes a sense of positive wellbeing and will hopefully enable them to settle in the classroom and learn effectively.
I am in school on Mondays and Tuesdays and am available on the playground first thing Monday morning and at the end of the school day on Tuesday afternoons, so please feel free to come and talk to me then. Outside those times, or if you would like to make an appointment to see me, please call the school office on 01795 830241, or contact me by email: R.Deeson@villageacademy.co.uk.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch if there is anything you feel that I can help with.

Parent / Teacher Consultations
We offer a parent/ teacher consultation every term to enable you to discuss your child’s progress and any concerns you may have. Throughout the year we also hold a number of “open afternoons” at which your child can show you all the wonderful work they’ve done. Once a year, an annual report is produced which contains all of your child’s test scores and sets out targets for the next year. Children also have targets in English and Maths which are reviewed on a termly basis.
Parental help in school
We welcome all parents or grandparents who would like to help in the school, please contact your child’s class teacher if you have any spare time. In keeping with our Child Protection policies regular visitors would be subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Check.
Parents are encouraged to contact the class teacher in the first instance should they wish to discuss any concerns; the Head of School and Principal are available, normally by appointment, to discuss any matters relating to the school. Should these avenues not resolve any matter satisfactorily then the Chairman of the Governing Body can be contacted via the school. If you remain dissatisfied all parents have the legal right to contact the Secretary of State for Education. A copy of the Village Academy Complaints Policy can be found on the Village Academy website.
