The Village Academy

The Village Academy is a group of town, city and village schools that have joined together to provide the very best education for the children in our care and where we believe that education is very much a matter of the individual.

To mark the centenary this year, each class in school crafted poppies using a variety of different crafting skills to produce a wave of poppies that was displayed from the altar in the church for the Remembrance services that took place.  In addition to this children also wrote prayers and thank you messages to the many service men, nurses, doctors, civilians, children and animals who lost their lives in the war.  We were privileged to have Pat Tatchell visit us for a Collective Worship based on remembrance where we learnt about the origins of the 2 minute silence and took time to remember and think about not only those who died but those who fought and survived the war for our freedom and the lives we live today. The poppy messages were ‘planted’ in the church yard to be shared with the parish until the start of Advent.
